How Do I Put On a Tranquility Tab-Style Brief?

Center the brief, secure the lower tabs first, then adjust the upper tabs and leg cuffs for a snug fit.

These instructions provide general guidance for applying a Tranquility tab-style brief. Always review the package directions for the specific product and follow the wearer's care plan or facility protocol.

Before you begin

  • Confirm that the product and size match the wearer's needs.

  • Make sure the skin is clean and dry.

  • Open the brief fully and identify the front, back and absorbent core.

  • Gently unfold the inner leg cuffs so they are not tucked into the core.

Apply the brief

  1. Center the brief between the legs with the absorbent core close to the body and the front panel positioned evenly across the lower abdomen.

  2. Smooth the back panel across the hips and make sure the product sits evenly in front and back.

  3. Fasten the lower tabs first, angling them slightly upward to create a secure fit around the legs.

  4. Fasten the upper tabs, angling them slightly downward to secure the waist.

  5. Check that the wetness indicator and core are centered, the leg cuffs face outward and no gaps remain around the legs.

Using the refastenable tabs

Plastic-backed briefs use a two-part refastenable tape system. Clothlike briefs use micro-hook tabs that grip the outer material. Follow the package directions for opening and refastening the specific tab system.

Check the final fit

The brief should feel snug but comfortable. If the tabs overlap near the center, the brief may be too large. If the tabs barely reach the sides or the product pinches, it may be too small.

Important: Use safe positioning and transfer techniques. If you assist someone with limited mobility, follow the person's care plan and your organization's training.
